Roma 2018 is a full visual identity project created for a hypothetical edition of the Olympic Games hosted in Rome. The work includes a logo, event posters, pictograms, and various promotional assets designed to capture the spirit of both the city and the Games.
Visual Research
The entire identity is built around two guiding concepts: centrality and equilibrium, qualities that reflect Rome’s role as a historic cultural center and align with the core values of the Olympic movement: unity, balance, and global connection.
To translate these themes visually, the research phase focused on movement and stability through the metaphor of spinning tops, objects that naturally embody balance and central force.
Using watercolors, we created patterns generated by spinning the tops on paper, and captured long-exposure photographs
of illuminated tops in motion.
